Rappahannock NonProfit Center

Rappahannock County, Virginia

Message from the Executive Director

Welcome to the website of the organization in Rappahannock County dedicated to the health of all of our nonprofits and to the community needs of the citizens they serve. Our coverage area is wide. Rappahannock nonprofit organizations serve the needs of people in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, and Warren counties.

We love being here in Rappahannock, where "the clover meets the sky." This year -- 2009 -- we begin our 5th year. Since our inception in June 2005, the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center (RNPC) has provided resources and services to more than 50 community based charitable organizations. These are organizations that are important to us all - fire departments, animal rescue, ministries, free clinics, child care, sheriffs' offices, boys and girls clubs, and more. Much more.

In 2007, the RNPC greatly expanded its operation by creating The Link (The Rappahannock Community Center). We moved our modest offices into the old Schoolhouse in Sperryville and took over its management. The Schoolhouse is owned by farm and business owner Cliff Miller, an active supporter. It is located on part of Cliff and Lucile Miller's Mount Vernon Farm, the oldest farm in Rappahannock County under original family ownership. Cliff shares our dream of converting the old school into a community center.

In our new, much larger facility, we are busy working to broaden our existing programs and to strengthen the administrative capabilities and resources of the nonprofits we serve. Our overarching goals, through collaboration with the nonprofits, are to raise the visibility of their missions and work, and to leverage resources between them in order to better deliver their important work. Strong nonprofits benefit the entire community, and we want to make them stronger.

Our second goal is to institutionalize a community center for the Rappahannock County area. We want a place where kids, seniors, groups, efforts and programs can come to work and play ... to the benefit of the entire community.

Through a unified and expanded Link program, we can work interactively one with another to share expertise and office services, learn from workshops and seminars, broaden outreach, and all the while increasing our capabilities and support resources. The end result is success for all participants and also for Rappahannock County as we strive together to benefit our community now and for the future.
